Claire Crowder
Outreach
On this page, you will find information about how I spend my time outside of class, including volunteer experience (both in the Clemson community and during my study abroad semester), involvement in on-campus organizations, and my travels during the summer of 2024.
Volunteer Experience
Clemson Community Care
During my time at Clemson, I have volunteered weekly at CCC, a community food bank serving Clemson residents in need. I have spent a majority of my time packing bags of nonperishable food for delivery to families and individuals.
Clemson University Paw Pantry
The Paw Pantry is a food pantry located on the University's campus for the use of students, faculty, and staff. I volunteer biweekly and assist individuals with choosing items and documenting their visits.
Cáritas- Santiago de Compostela, Spain
During my semester abroad, I volunteered weekly with middle and high school aged students in an after-school program. I helped with homework and test prep (mostly in English courses) and played games to improve English fluency.
On-Campus Involvement
Clemson University Undergraduate Student Government
I currently serve on the Public Relations Committee of CUSG, which entails creating graphics to be posted on social media accounts and photographing campus events.
Phi Kappa Phi
Phi Kappa Phi is a prestigious academic honor society that recognizes and promotes excellence in all fields of higher education. It invites members based on their outstanding academic achievements and commitment to intellectual growth.
Sigma Delta Pi
I am a current member of Clemson's chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, which is the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society.
Summer 2024: Return to Santiago de Compostela
During the summer of 2024, I had the opportunity to return to Santiago de Compostela, the city in which I studied abroad in the Spring of 2023. I was able to live with the same host family again and spent four weeks studying Spanish language and culture at the University of Santiago de Compostela. In July, I took (and passed) the DELE (Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera) B2 exam. I loved being able to spend time with old friends and professors and experience a summer in Spain for the first time. In addition to spending time in Spain, I also traveled to France, Portugal, and Belgium.
